Sujoykrishna Bhadra’s health improves, ED’s recruitment case charge framing delayed

Sujoykrishna Bhadra, who was arrested in connection with the recruitment corruption case, is showing signs of improvement after being placed on a ventilator. BM Birla Hospital in Kolkata confirmed on Wednesday that Bhadra's health has stabilized. The hospital stated that there are no issues with his heart, and as such, he no longer requires intensive care. Doctors indicated that his condition has improved enough for him to be transferred to a different facility for further care.

Bhadra, also known as Kalighat’s Kaku, suddenly fell ill on Monday, just a day before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was scheduled to frame charges in the recruitment scam. Following his deterioration, Bhadra was initially taken to SSKM Hospital and later transferred to BM Birla Hospital due to the severity of his condition. After being placed on a ventilator for 24 hours, the hospital reported that his physical condition improved, and there was no longer a need for him to remain in critical care.

The timing of Bhadra’s health crisis has delayed the charge framing in the ED’s investigation into the recruitment scam. Bhadra was expected to appear in court on Monday to face formal charges, but his hospitalization has postponed this process. The ED had been set to frame charges as part of their ongoing probe into the recruitment fraud. It is unclear how long it will take for Bhadra to recover sufficiently to appear in court and continue with legal proceedings.

Sources confirmed that Bhadra’s family, including his daughter, visited him at the hospital on Wednesday. Bhadra was reportedly able to communicate with her during the visit. The hospital confirmed that no heart issues were found, and they are in the process of removing his ventilator support. Bhadra is expected to be transferred to another medical facility soon for continued monitoring.
